Bill Brown's latest collection of poetry, The News Inside, This collection explores themes of Brown’s rural boyhood, the richness of married love and the parallel cycles of the natural world.Brown has successfully combined a distinguished academic career with a lifelong vocation as a poet. He has published seven collections of poetry as well as writing a textbook. He taught for 20 years at Hume Fogg Academic Magnet School in Nashville where his program garnered many awards and he nurtured outstanding aspiring writers, such as Stephanie Pruitt, who was recently named one of Essence magazine’s Forty Favorite Poets. Most recently, he has been a lecturer at Vanderbilt's Peabody College of Education. His core belief in the connectedness of all life is seen through his subjects ranging from the beauty of a Tennessee summer morning to the homeless denizens of downtown Nashville.
